Farkovitz uses a thematic application as the foundation of his work. When it's on a guitar of his own, the ideas begin to flow based on the elements of the guitar. This might be the color, the shape of the headstock, f-holes, pick guard, or the placement of the tuning and control knobs. Any could spark design concepts. In other instances we may be challenged to apply an idea to someone else's theme and begin searching for the right guitar to apply our client's theme. Once the ideas begin to flow they tend to take on a life of their own, and the intricacies of the design, the choice of whether to have gem stones as a part of the design, and then what types evolve.

Because Farkovitz has spent half of his career as a professional goldsmith and fine jeweler in product development for the luxury market, the way he develops the various objects allows for limited reproduction of the same design themes. While certain hand crafted elements will naturally vary from piece to piece, the custom designed control knobs for the guitars will be the produced from the molds that Farkovitz develops with the first edition of each guitar he creates.
