The Louis Farkovitz Personal Collection
What began as a weekend diversion from the workweek, evolved into a personal collection of luxury custom guitars that Farkovitz and his friends and family enjoy every day. Frequented by other guitar enthusiasts, musicians and luthiers, these guitars have been the source of great joy and amusement for the Aritist. His personal collection of custom guitar embellishments has been under development for more than a decade. While the originals are not for sale, Farkovitz welcomes commissions based upon these thematic designs. Contact us to arrange for a personal, creative consultation.
These custom guitar designs can be adapted to fit other guitars. Using nickel silver and semi-precious gemstones in his own collection, Farkovitz is not limiting the use of precious metals or gemstones on third party orders. Any metal, including fine silver, gold or platinum, can be used. If you want diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds or pearls, they are available as well. If you can conceive it, Farkovitz can create any custom guitar you can imagine.
Farkovitz fell in love with a t-shirt he bought from a Russian vendor in Union Square Park. He asked her what the text and meaning of the art work was. She said that it was a Cinema Poster for a 1917 Russian film based upon a play called, “The Abyss” by M. Kalmanson. The story is an erotic tale about a young woman and a giant octopus that fall in love. At that point, he thought it would work very well as a jewelry design, but later realized that the real magic of this piece would work best on a luxury custom guitar!

This nasty insect is such a man hater! She's popular for eating her poor mate immediately after the consummation of their marriage. As a teenager, Farkovitz was a huge Alice Cooper fan; the black widow custom guitar was inspired by his song and Louis' infatuation with nature and its' mysteries. The motif on the Black Widow custom guitar was handcrafted in nickel silver, white gold alloy knobs, and blood-red quartz in the pick-guard, headstock black widows, and on the pickup switch. This detail is luxury at its' finest.

This Gibson LS-6 was such a find because it was missing its knobs and pickguard! Louis created original control knobs and a pickguard with this simple but classic look. The metal work has the impact of increasing the sustain, but does not damage the original finish in any way. Since its original cosmetic components were not there, when it was purchased, this vintage classic, it enabled him to view it as a blank canvas. Hence, its title- Blank Tattoo!

Farkovitz bought this early 60's Japanese crafted Encore guitar because he loved its look, feel and beautiful green color. As soon as his wife laid eyes on it, it was clear to her that it had dragon written all over it, based upon a story by Rivka Willick! So, he thought to concoct a Japanese dragon for the headstock and the word "conquer". It is fabricated in nickel silver and a white gold alloy pickup selector switch set with green quartz, and enamel inset in the control knobs by Evelyn Sadovsky.
This fantastic bass was donated to Farkovitz Vinnie Fodera, founder of the world renowned bass guitar company: Fodera, home of the finest hand-built bass guitars on the planet! Farkovitz designed and fabricated the butterfly motif as homage to Fodera's butterfly logo, because of his love for the organic beauty of flying insects and nature. The motif is made out of nickel silver, and the knobs are made out of white gold alloy, set with moonstone gems.

FLORA BRADSHAW
This Guitar Masterpiece was completely hand built by my good friend, Luthior, Andrew Bradshaw.
It was the most challenging guitar I ever had the pleasure of working on. The idea of a floral design came quickly, but I didn't want it to be overly suggestive, or to cover too much of her wonderful mahogany skin. So I took a few Picasso, and Van Gogh ques.
Then the knob design dilemma came to me, I didn't want a floral over-kill to take affect, so I dabbled with a few ideas, one of which I scrapped, till I came up with what you see in the pictures. Traditionally, theses basic shaped knobs are called a “Witch-hat” knobs but Liora said that they are top hats, and that I should call them "Top Hats" I loved that idea. So Hats off to my little Mrs. So, my top hats, are topped with triangular indicators, and triangular flat finger bars for quick rotation on their cylindrical sides, and a nice brim for the sake of style!
Please don't quote but from what I understand about Andrew, is that when it comes to quality, there are no short cuts, and zero holds barred. But when it comes to design, less is more. I tend to agree with that so I minimized the headstock with a Deco styled truss-rod cover and his name.
